Athletic Linebacker DaShaun White Previews Texas Visit

DaShaun White, one of the top 2018 outside linebackers in Texas, previews his upcoming visit to Texas.

With recent visits to UCLA and Texas A&M under his belt, 2018 outside linebacker DaShaun White plans to visit Texas this weekend.

The 6-foot-1, 209-pound White, who plays for Richland High School near Fort Worth, holds five Power Five conference offers, including UCLA, Texas A&M, TCU, Ole Miss, and Indiana. White owns offers from about a dozen programs so far and will see plenty more with the impending spring evaluation period.

White is anxious to check out the Forty Acres.

"The school is big-time, I know that," he said. "It's previous few years have been less successful than what the history says, but I feel (Tom) Herman can change that. Not to mention I've got a few friends in their 2017 class. Would be cool to be on the field fighting with them."

Scout ranks White as the No. 4 outside linebacker in Texas and No. 31 OLB nationally. He possesses the physical tools and football instincts to play the coverage linebacker or "spacebacker" role oft-used in today's schemes that combat spread offenses.

What does White want to see during his trip to Austin?

"I want to see what all the ATX talk is about," he said. "I like the way myself and coach Todd Orlando's relationship started so I plan to see if it carries over face-to-face. I want to see how that defense moves and if I can truly fit into it."

White said Orlando likes his style of play and how he could possibly fit in the Longhorns' scheme.

"He says I'm a guy he'd love at Texas," White said, "and to coach personally and feels like I could play early on."

Following White's visit to Texas, he plans to check out Oklahoma State. In addition to the aforementioned offers, White holds offers from Houston, Arkansas State, Colorado State, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, North Texas, and Tulsa.
