SEC programs in good shape for 36th-ranked WR Marquez Ezzard

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -- Four-star Stockbridge (Ga.) wide receiver Marquez Ezzard was one of the top prospects at the Under Armour All-American Camp Atlanta and spoke with Scout.

Marquez Ezzard has been one of the most impressive players in the South on the camp circuit this spring

Where is he in the recruiting process?

"Right now, I don't have any top schools," said the  6-foot-1 ½, 213-pound Ezzard. "But Auburn and Georgia are standing out. I have great relationships with the coaches and we've developed a bond."

He visited both schools last week and Auburn was the first stop.

"I enjoyed watching practice, talking to the coaches and talking to the players," Ezzard said. "I had a chance to sit down and talk to coach (Gus) Malzahn one-on-one and he told me they need playmakers. He said he really wanted me to come to Auburn and it definitely meant a lot.

"I also have a good relationship with (wide receivers) coach (Kodi) Burns and he played college ball at Auburn. He's recruiting me and can really relate to me.  He's been telling me that Auburn would be a great school for me and I'd fit in well."

The Stockbridge standout visited Georgia a few days later.

"I also enjoyed that visit," Ezzard said. "It was great spending time with the coaches and players. They're recruiting really well, especially in Georgia, and it's impressive.

"I'm real close with (wide receivers) coach (James) Coley and we talked a lot. We talked about football and things off the field, which was great. I also talked with coach (Kirby) Smart. He told me he was glad I visited and that they want me at Georgia. He also said he wanted me to come visit again as soon as possible."

In regards to upcoming trips, Ezzard plans to visit Missouri.

Ezzard plans to narrow his list this summer and make his commitment after his senior season.
