Samuel Brooks does not have a clear-cut leader in the clubhouse, but admits one school is starting to leave its mark at the midpoint of his high school career.
A Miami (Fl) legacy hailing out of Miami Northwestern, the 6-foot-1.5, 191-pound Brooks has scooped up roughly a dozen scholarship offers, including ones from Rutgers, Kentucky, UCF, Temple and Appalachian State.
"Well, right now I don't have (a leader), but if I was to choose, it'd be Kentucky for now," Brooks said. "I love their defense because it fits me and I feel that I would dominate at Kentucky.
"Most of the coaching staff followed me, so that shows the interest they have in me. My coach was able to talk to them over the phone."
Brooks is still getting his feet wet in regards to his knowledge of Rutgers' football program, but has a value resource to help expedite the process.
"I don't know a lot about Rutgers, but Tim Brown, a former Rutgers football player from my high school, wants to inform me on how Rutgers' system works and so on," Brooks said.
"My connection with Miami is very, very tight," Brooks said. "I was just invited to their spring game, and I'm real close to coach (Mark) Richt, (defensive coordinator) coach (Manny) Diaz and coach (Jorge) Baez.
"I'm waiting on that offer; it would mean a lot to be offered from Miami."
