More Offers Coming For OT Darian Kinnard?

BEREA, Ohio -- Although Darian Kinnard did not receive the top offensive lineman award at last weekend's Opening Regional, the Cleveland St. Ignatius tackle battled highly rated Jack Carman for the honor.

While the nation's number-three offensive tackle, Jack Carman, deservedly receives most of the hype in the Midwest, there is another lineman starting to emerge as a top talent.

Cleveland St. Ignatius three-star tackle Darian Kinnard battled Carman tooth and nail for the top lineman award at last weekend's The Opening Regional. He opened plenty of eyes with his performance.

"It felt good doing well against this great talent, and it gave me confidence that I can play with anyone," Kinnard stated.

Kinnard holds several offers at this time, and he is still considering all of his options.

"I still have offers coming in, so I haven't cut my list down at all," he admitted. "I want to get every offer I can, and I want to give every school a chance to recruit me. I want to visit as many schools as I can."

"Of the schools that have offered, I would say UCLA is definitely sticking out to me," he added. "They were the first bigger offer I received, and I want to get out there this summer. I talk to the coaches all the time, and they're really cool."

Even though home-state power Ohio State has not offered Kinnard to date, he has been in contact with the Buckeye coaching staff.

"I stay in contact with Coach (Tony) Alford and Coach (Greg) Studrawa, and we speak fairly often," Kinnard explained. "I just got off the phone with Coach Studrawa a few days ago, and he said he wants me to visit."

"They are telling me they like me a lot, and they want me to spend more time with their staff," he said.

Distance from the city of Cleveland won't be an issue for Kinnard, and he stressed that he will have no problem choosing a school far away from home.

"Going away to school isn't an issue, because it's just me and my mom," Kinnard noted. "She's always said she will go wherever I go."

"When I told her about the UCLA offer, she about freaked out thinking about the beach and the great weather," he said. "I'm in no hurry to make a decision, and I will probably take all five visits and decide later in the year."
