Three-Star QB Stacy Conner has Committed to UNLV

Scout caught up with three-star quarterback Stacy Conner, who recently switched his verbal commitment from Texas State to UNLV.

Stacy Conner, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound quarterback from Wylie (Texas) High initially made his commitment to Texas State, but after some coaching changes he reconsidered the decision and switched his verbal to UNLV

"When I first talked to the coaches they made me feel like I was family. Coach (Ron) Odell, Coach (Barney) Cotton, Coach (Tony) Sanchez, Coach (C.J.) Cox and all the other staff was so great."

"You know when you just look at the growth and the instruction that the coaches give its a great place to be. Coach Sanchez has it going it the right way. The players are also helpful and nice. Gabe McCoy is like a big brother he pushes himself and I can't wait to grind with him."

Conner picked up an offer from the Rebels around the time of the Pylon 7-on-7 tournament in Las Vegas in late February. He plays for the True Buzz in Dallas, which has an array of talented D1 prospects on its roster.

"Without the help of the True Buzz organization I would not have had the platform to be seen (by UNLV)," Conner said.

Conner explained that the engineering program at UNLV played a huge role in his decision making process. He also feels that there is an opportunity to step into a situation in Las vegas that is trending in a positive direction.

"We will have a new facility in 2018," Conner explained. "We will also be playing in the Raiders (NFL) stadium in 2020. The engineering program was the key also I want to be some where for the next four to five years I can grow educationally and athletically. I want to come in one day and hopefully make some tradition of my own by being a great leader."

"I expect to come in and compete with Armani Rogers and hope we both flourish and grow in the competition."

As a junior in 2016, Conner completed 135-of-260 passes for 1,757 yards and 21 touchdowns at Dallas (Texas) Bishop Dunne.

"My biggest strength is that I am teachable and ready to learn," Conner said. "I will give 100 percent at all times."
