Milpitas (Calif.) receiver Tuni Fifita has eight offers as the spring evaluation period draws closer.
Last weekend, Fifita checked out Washington and got to meet with the Husky coaches.
"I talked with Coach (Jordan) Paopao and he's going to come me at my high school in the spring," said Fifita. "Hopefully they offer, but right now it's a lot of early talk. They're looking at me as a Y or a tight end."
In fact, many schools see Fifita growing into a bigger receiver/tight end type in college.
"Because I'm going to potentially be bigger in college, I'll play more tight end this year and get down in the trenches and block," said Fifita. "I love tight end too so whatever they want me to play, I'll play."
While at Washington, Fifita reunited with his longtime family friend and Husky defensive lineman, Vita Vea.
"Vita was actually the one showing me around campus and showing me everything," said Fifita.
Fifita has heard from a number of other Pac-12 schools too.
"Colorado has been sending me a little more mail, Oregon State and UCLA have too," said Fifita. "We'll go back down to USC and to UCLA for their spring game at the end of the month. And I might come back up to Washington for their spring game."
Utah was one of Fifita's early offers and he's hoping to get out there soon.
"I want to go to Utah and visit with Coach (Lewis) Powell," said Fifita. "They want me as a linebacker and I'm interested in that."
But Fifita acknowledged that his heart is on offense.
"I'd prefer to play tight end or receiver," said Fifita. "My coaches tell me to be open to everything though, so I'd be open to any position, whatever helps me on the field quicker."
Fifita said he won't be narrowing his list for some time.
"I don't have a top five right now," said Fifita. "Maybe during the summer I'll narrow it down, but right now I'm focusing on school. And I want to take all my visits, so I'm not in a rush."
