No. 3 DE Malcolm Lamar Will Reveal Decision on National Signing Day

With one school recruiting him hardest, Scout 100 defensive lineman Malcolm Lamar knows when he wants to reveal his college decision as well.

Malcolm Lamar lived out his childhood as a Florida Gators fan, but is now hesitant to name a front-runner with over 20 additional offers to consider, including one from Alabama.

Lamar, the nation's third-ranked defensive end and 33rd-ranked player overall, recently journeyed up to Tuscaloosa for the first time and says his time with coach Nick Saban's staff was nothing short of "amazing."

"It was amazing," Lamar said. "The facilities are like something you've never seen before. I can't explain it, but it was amazing.

"I like Alabama because they have a good program, and I like Nick Saban. He was telling me I have a chance to fight for a starting position during my freshman year. It was pretty cool meeting him; he's a calm dude, you know?"

The Seffner (Fla.) Armwood star has made the near two-hour drive up to Florida's campus on multiple occasions over the past year, including for the Gators' junior day roughly three weeks ago.

Lamar, who is equipped with additional offers from GeorgiaLSUMiami (Fl)Oregon and Oklahoma among others, says Florida is recruiting him the hardest as well.

"I like the campus, and the stadium is right in the middle of everything," Lamar said. "I just like the Gators, like the colors and everything around it. The school showing me the most love is Florida; all of the coaches text me.

"Me and (defensive line) coach (Chris) Rumph have a really good relationship and we talk almost every day, like on a personal level. He never pressures me into committing, and says wherever I go to just make sure it's the right decision for myself."

The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Lamar is also planning to drop into Knoxville for Tennessee's Orange and White Spring Game on Saturday, April 22.

"I like Tennessee," Lamar said. "I liked the atmosphere when I went up there for the game against Florida. They won the game, so of course the fans were going crazy, but the fans were going crazy when they were down as well. They have some real die-hard fans.

"I didn't really get to see the academic facilities, but the football facilities are huge."

Lamar plans to reveal his decision on National Signing Day 2018.
