Iverson Clement, the No. 4 running back in the East and No. 27 nationally, spent the last few months making visits and narrowing his choices of schools.
"All the schools that offered me, they were good schools," the 5-foot-11, 188-pound Clement said. "That is something I learned early. Every school is Division I, good conference, and you have to make the best out of it and be that dude at the next level and not be a bust. I know picking a school was not necessarily going to be hard but picking the right school was going to be tiny bit (hard), but any school was going to be all right.
"In picking the school I an going to pick, I talked to my family about it and breaking down conferences and what fits me best family-wise and everything, one school stuck out to me."
Clement made visits to all but Baylor, but the Bears have an in with a trio of 2017 signings from South Jersey, including Clement's cousin, Jon Lovett.
In readying for his announcement, Clement shared his thoughts on each of his finalists:
Baylor: "With Harrison Hand going down there, and Jon Lovett, being my cousin, going down there, it definitely would be nice to visit there and see what's up there. (Defensive backs) coach Fran (Francis Brown) and (coach) Matt Rhule, they changed Temple around, and then going down there, I think they will definitely change that around big-time doing what they did at a smaller school. I believe they will do that at Baylor."
Ohio State: "Dream school and I could always see myself in scarlet and gray. The coaching staff is (elite) and the program is definitely wonderful. It's an easy question to go ask yourself, 'Why wouldn't you want to go play there?' "
Florida: "It's a good school, a good conference. The coaching staff is definitely cool. It was the second school to offer me. The relationship with the coaches is good and the program is one of a kind."
Michigan State: "Michigan State is big on tradition and the running back, it's a pro-style offense. Year-in and year-out, they continue to produce running backs. It's going to continue."
Penn State: "When they offered me, they were always on me. They were always in contact with me and my coaches. I've been there at least two times. They had an amazing season and they're going to continue to do well."
