Midwest's Top DE Tyreke Smith In No Hurry To Decide

BEREA, Ohio -- Four-star Tyreke Smith impressed greatly last weekend and he punched his ticket to Oregon for The Opening in the process. The defensive end holds a monster offer list, and is considering all schools right now.

Most of the top 2018 prospects in Ohio competed at last weekend's Cleveland Opening Regional, and four-star defensive end Tyreke Smith might have been the most improved player since last season.

Smith holds offers from most of the top programs in America, and he has taken several unofficial visits in an attempt to find the school.

"I have not cut my list down at all, and I'm going to keep taking as many visits as I can throughout the spring and summer," Smith admitted. "I don't want to cut schools out without giving them a chance, so I'm going to see as many as I can."

"I've already taken lots of visits with my dad, and we want to go to USC and UCLA this summer, and possibly Stanford as well," he added. "I'd love to get to LSU, Tennessee and Alabama, and some of the other SEC schools that have offered me."

Even with such an aggressive visit schedule, Smith is planning on taking all five official visits next fall.

"I definitely want to take all my five visits and then decide later in the year," he explained. "I might narrow my list down at the end of the summer, but I just want to take my time with this process."

Even though Smith declined to name a leader or state a favorite list, he did mention a few schools that are sticking out to him.

"I would say schools like Ohio StatePenn State and Notre Dame hit me up the most, and they are showing a lot of love to me," Smith admitted. "It would be hard to walk away from these schools, because of how much love they've given me."

"Ohio State is a place where I have great relationships with (defensive line coach) Larry Johnson and Coach (Urban) Meyer," he said. "Penn State has been recruiting me for a long time, and they offered me very early in the process. Notre Dame has such great tradition, and I like everything about the school."
