Four-Star CB Asante Samuel, Jr. Is a Florida State Seminole

The Florida State Seminoles just received a major boost to their recruiting class with a commitment from 2018 four-star cornerback, Asante Samuel, Jr.

Asante Samuel Jr. has been leaning towards Florida State for well over a year, and officially took it a step further on Thursday by inserting himself into their recruiting class.

A four-star cornerback representing Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, Samuel is a hot commodity on the recruiting scene who also heavily considered an offer from the nearby Miami (Fl) Hurricanes.

"It's just the school feels like family and I think I can make an impact as soon as I get there," Samuel said. "I like (the staff's) consistency and how the players talk about them.

"It was just the childhood favorite and I always liked them."

Samuel, who is committed to suiting up in the 2018 Under Armour All-America Game, has piled up additional scholarship offers from AlabamaGeorgiaLSUNotre DameOhio StateTennessee and Oklahoma among others.

The nation's 31st-ranked cornerback says relocating nearly six hours north to Tallahassee will be a nice change of scenery after spending all of his upbringing in South Florida.

"It's just different," Samuel said. "You don't see stuff like that when walking through Miami, like, it's different. There are different types of hills and just little stuff like that."

The blue-chip talent needs to lock in a return visit date to FSU's campus, but has a good idea of how his schedule will play out over the next several months.

"I'll most likely get up there this summer before the season, and for a couple of home games," Samuel said.

Samuel is commitment No. 9 in the Seminoles' 2018 recruiting haul.
