Jalen Chatman was one of the most productive players in the state last season and has led the Gauchos to back to back city titles.

Chatman is a tremendous leader, a winner and continues to get better every time we see him. As a junior, Chatman put up huge numbers, throwing for 3,926 yards and 52 touchdowns while rushing 622 yards and six more scores. He's among the region's top dual threat quarterbacks and has made big strides this off-season as a passer and can hurt a defense in a lot of ways.

On the recruiting front, Chatman headed to the South earlier in the week and visited Tulane on Tuesday.

"It was a great visit, I really liked it there," Chatman told us earlier today. "I actually came back to talk with the coaches again today and I have a good feel for the school and how I would fit in there. It's a beautiful campus and I clicked well with the coaches. I was able to watch the team practice, saw the football facilities and sit in on some of the quarterback meetings.

"I like the offense, I think it fits me really well. It's a spread offense  and the quarterback has a lot of responsibility so I like it a lot. I have family in the area as well so even though the school is far from home, I would still have a nice support system in place there so there are nothing but positives with Tulane, I couldn't find anything there I didn't like."

As good as the visit was, Chatman said he wasn't quite ready to pull the trigger just yet.

"I was tempted, I thought about it a few times," Chatman said. "Like I said, it's a great fit for me but I want to play things out a little longer and maybe take a few more visits. We have a lot of colleges coming by our school to watch me throw in the next few weeks so I want to play it out a little, see who might offer and that will determine where I'll visit next.

I know HawaiiSan Jose State and a few others will be coming by so I want to go through the process a little more. I have set a commitment date and will be announcing May 31st. That gives me time to look at all my options and then make my decision by the end of spring."
