Oregon is making a big push for one of the elite defensive backs out West, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco's Stephan Blaylock.

There aren't many safeties out West with a more complete game than Stephan Blaylock.

He does everything well and has tremendous upside potential. He's a physical player, strong in run support and loves to hit. He's an athlete who can cover a lot of ground in the secondary and shows the range to make plays from sideline to sideline.

He's also a very instinctive player who makes quick reads and can get downhill and make a play. He's a tough kid as well who plays with a nice edge to him and should have a monster senior year.

On the recruiting front, the Oregon Ducks have made Blaylock a huge priority and he'll visit the Eugene campus twice over the next few weeks.

"I'm going out there next Tuesday and Wednesday with my mom," Blaylock said. "Then I'm going back up for the Spring Game April 28-30 with my one of my coaches and a few teammates. The first trip is so I'll have a chance to spend more one on one time with the coaches and so my mom can have a chance to see the school and meet with the staff as well.

"I'm developing a good relationship with Keith Heyward, the DB coach over there. They're recruiting me harder than anyone along with Nebraska, so I'm excited to get up there for a visit and learn more about the program."

Speaking of the Huskers, Blaylock said he would love to get to Lincoln for a trip as well.

"I'm going to try and get out there in the summer for a visit," Blaylock said. "Coach Elliott, the safeties coach, is my primary recruiter from Nebraska and I like him a lot and feel comfortable with him. I talk with Donte Williams too but Elliott is the main  guy I talk with and they're very high on my list."

Baylocks first offer was from UCLA and the Bruins remain in the mix as well.

"I still talk with Coach Meat (Martin)," Blaylock said. "I was just there last weekend for a practice but didn't get to talk much with the coaches. That was the day of the Tom Lemming photo shoot so there were a lot of guys there but I plan to get back up there for a Spring practice pretty soon here.

"Texas A&M is another school that is showing some interest and has talked to my coaches about me so we'll see if anything happens there. I'm still planning to commit at the end of the summer so these trips will be big for me to weigh my options and make the best choice for me."
