"I'm going to UCLA," Jones said. "It is a great opportunity for me with football and from an educational standpoint it is an amazing university that fits me really well.
The school is also on the come up as it relates to getting people into the NFL draft and of course that is the direction I would like to go in after college. I think the right people and the right coaches are in place and it is just the best situation for me all around."
Jones has formed a strong bond with UCLA Defensive Backs Coach Demetrice Martin, who is affectionately referred to as 'Coach Meat" in recruiting circles.
"I believe in 'Coach Meat'," Jones said. "He has always been very respectful with me, and with me going away from home and away from my mom he can be that father figure type. He will get me prepared for the next level and help me to get there."
Jones will have an opportunity to come in and push for early playing time. He has watched the defensive back picture closely and feels he brings a unique skill set to the table.
"I am a physical presence and a good tackler," Jones said of his strengths. "I feel like I can step in and play early. I am not cocky, but it speaks to how confident I am in myself as a player and I expect to get a lot of playing time my freshman year and to push for a starting job.
They did not sign a lot of safeties in the 2017 class and I do not expect them to sign many more in my class. Competition or not I am going to come in and push for freshman PT."
Jones feels like he has found a spot to call home for college and quite possibly beyond.
"UCLA is a beautiful campus," Jones explained. "Los Angeles is a beautiful city. It is a great place to start a family and live after football."
