Third-ranked Ga. OT Casey Holman locked in on Duke

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -- Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood offensive tackle Casey Holman committed to Duke last month and has not looked back. He spoke with Scout about his decision and more at the recent Under Armour Atlanta camp.

After receiving over 20 scholarship offers, Casey Holman committed to Duke about a month and a half ago.

Holman knew Duke was the place for him.

"The academics and family atmosphere separated Duke from the other schools," said the 6-foot-5, 268-pound Holman. "It's like my high school team in a sense that it's a family and coach (David) Cutcliffe cares about everyone.

"The degree from Duke is obviously great, too. It's awesome to be committed to Duke and I know I made the right decision."

The Brookwood standout hopes to contribute early.

"I'm going to do my best to play as soon as possible wherever they need me," Holman said. "I want to do whatever I can to help us be successful."

Holman has developed a strong relationship with the coaching staff.

"(Wide receivers) coach (Jeffrey) Faris recruits our area and we talk on the phone a lot and he's just a great guy," Holman said. "I also have a good relationship with (offensive line) coach (Marcus) Johnson and he's a great guy, too. They're high-energy coaches and really care about their players."

He is excited about playing for Cutcliffe.

"Coach Cutcliffe has built that program from the ground up," Holman said. "He's transformed the program into an ACC Championship team and they're going to compete for national titles.

"He's also a great guy...just a phenomenal person, and I'm just glad he gave me a chance to play for him."

Holman said he is 100 percent committed to the Blue Devils and will visit again at the beginning of summer.
