Four-Star DB Ely Doyle Recaps Visits with Illinois, Northwestern, Notre Dame and Purdue

Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany defensive back Ely Doyle took a swing through the Midwest last week, visiting four schools and landing a new offer.

It's a deep year for safeties out West and Ely Doyle is one of the best in the region.

Doyle has looked very good this off-season, showing improved athleticism, cover skills and ability to break down and play in space. He has a solid 6-0, 190 pound frame, is a physical player who can hit and has a very nice upside to him.

On the recruiting front, Doyle took advantage of his recent Spring Break by taking visits to, in order, Northwestern,  Illinois,  Purdue  and  Notre Dame. The athlete broke down what he liked about each trip;

NW- "They're building a new facility, a $135 mil project that should be really nice. The academics are really good there and I enjoyed getting to know the coaching staff. I was able to spend time with Coach Fitzgerald, Coach Brown and Coach Payton and talk about their defense and how I would fit in there."

Illinois- "I liked the campus, it was really nice there and the facilities were nice as well. They're also building a new facility that is supposed to be really nice and I liked their academic program as well. Lovie Smith wasn't there but I was able to talk with Hardy Nickerson and I really enjoyed meeting him. They haven't offered yet but the coaches said they plan to come by and see me in the Spring. They told me they love my game and plan to stay in contact so I'm hoping for the offer when they visit."

Purdue- "Purdue was really good, they offered me on the visit. I spent a lot of time with Coach Shephard and Coach Poindexter. I watched film with them and then toured the campus. They offered right when I got there so that was a great way to start off the visit. They're building a new facility this year and I also like the academics there. All these programs have strong academics, which is important for me."

ND- "The visit went really well. I had a long talk with Coach Polian and he telling me how much he likes my film and said they're going to be recruiting me hard. He said they like my aggressiveness, physicality, ball skills  and passion for the game and he's going to come see me in the Spring. The campus was as nice as I expected and the facilities are off the charts. The tradition there is incredible and I had a really good time."

Doyle said he doesn't have any other visit plans set up right now but will likely check out UCLA and USC at some point and the Bruins have already offered. As for timeframe for his decision, Doyle said he would like to make his decision sometime in the summer.
