Tyler Shough had just returned home from a second visit to SEC country when he received news that will most certainly lead to yet another trip to those parts.

The three-star quarterback from Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton visited Missouri over the weekend before landing an offer from Alabama, and it's difficult to find a prospect whose stock has soared more in recent weeks.

"What stands out the most about Alabama is how well I would fit into their offense," Shough told Scout.com. "It's a pro-style offense with some gun as well, which is what we do at my high school. Their track record of coaching stands out and I'm supposed to be talking to coach Nick Saban and the new offensive coordinator pretty soon. I'm just looking forward to getting to know them. It's very encouraging.

"Coach (Tosh) Lupoi offered me and he told me I'm the QB they're looking for in this class. Jalen Hurts was more of a dual-threat type this last season but with their new offense they're trying to get back to more pro-style. They'd want me to command the offense. They came out of nowhere, really. I wasn't talking to them before but my coach gave me their number so I called them and they offered."

With an offer from the Crimson Tide on the table, the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Shough said he hopes to get out to Tuscaloosa at some point in the summer before making a college decision.

"I'm talking to several other schools as well and they've told me they're watching me real close and planning to come see me throw in the spring," Shough said. "I have to take a step back obviously and I'm open to everything."

Missouri drew the latest visit, following the trip out to South Carolina earlier in the spring, and Shough said he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

"I really wanted to get to know coach (Josh) Heupel and the whole coaching staff," Shough said. "He was an incredible player and has coached several NFL guys, so his track record in coaching and his experience is exceptional. I wanted to see what they had to offer and what their program is all about. Ultimately my decision will come down to where I can get an opportunity to play and how the education side of it is, and that's what we talked about at Missouri. It's going to be something I'll be looking for in schools coming up in the future."

Michigan, the program Shough grew up rooting for, also joined the offer sheet recently and a visit is in the works for the weekend of May 13. He heard the Wolverines are aiming to sign two quarterbacks in the 2018 class and said that's not a negative.

"I find that more appealing, actually, because I'm not afraid to compete," Shough said. "Having another guy in your class means that there are not a lot of quarterbacks on the roster that are older than you. It would be about going in there and competing with that other guy, so it doesn't matter to me who that would be. It's all about the school and, like I was saying, the opportunity to play."

Up next for Shough is a trip to Colorado State this coming weekend.

"I'll be there for their spring game this weekend," Shough said. "I'm really high on their coaching staff and program. I've been looking forward to taking a visit out there and it's pretty close, so it was economic for us."

Shough completed 62 percent of his pass attempts for 2,079 yards and 27 touchdowns in 12 games as a junior last season.
