Duke and Wake Forest showing most interest in 2019 QB Brendon Clark

Four-star 2019 Midlothian (Va.) Manchester quarterback Brendon Clark is one of the top rising junior signal-callers in the East and he spoke with Scout about the latest developments in his recruitment.

Brendon Clark had a breakout sophomore season last fall.

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Clark threw for 2,373 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushed for 279 yards and three more scores.

Due to his efforts, Clark's recruitment is starting to pick up steam.

"The main schools recruiting me are Duke and Wake Forest," Clark said. "I've visited both this spring and will camp at each school in June."

The Manchester standout gave a thought on each school.

Duke: "I like their offense and the way they work with their quarterbacks," Clark said. "I also really like the school itself -- the campus -- and what they have to offer academically. I'm looking forward to camping again and working with coach (David) Cutcliffe.

"(Running backs) coach (Re'quan) Boyette is the recruiter for our area and I call him and we talk on a pretty consistent basis. I've also talked to (offensive coordinator) coach (Zac) Roper. I like the relationship I have with them and they always want to know how I'm doing and how things are going outside football, which is great."

Wake Forest: "I like the atmosphere and feel very comfortable there. I also like what they have to offer academically and the program they're building. I'm looking forward to that camp, too, and I'm excited to work with (offensive coordinator) coach (Warren) Ruggiero and get to know the rest of the coaches.

"I've been talking to coach Ruggiero and he's very personable. When I visited, he spent some time with me and my family, and talked about the recruiting process. I also like that he was straightforward and honest."

Besides the aforementioned schools, Clark will likely camp at North Carolina and NC State.
