Analysis: Gophers land quick-footed corner Tyrik Henderson

Carol Stream (Ill.) Glenbard North cornerback Tyrik Henderson committed to Minnesota on Wednesday night. Scout has seen him in person several times and takes a closer look at him here.

Offers: Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Syracuse, Purdue, Iowa State, Boston College, Cincinnati, New Mexico, Colorado State, Temple, Wyoming, Yale, etc.

Where We've Seen Him: BOOM Showcase (2017), NFA 7v7, Highlight Tapes (2016, 2015), Nike Opening Regional Chicago (2017)

Scouting Report:
Henderson has excellent quickness. He has very natural feet and change of direction. He has loose hips, and is able to turn and run with receivers. He has the speed to do that. He is a natural and instinctive playmaker with good ball skills. He is not a big guy. He is on the light side weight wise right now. Despite that, he has shown the ability to play up on the line of scrimmage because of his technique and aggressiveness, although he will have to get stronger in college.

Henderson projects as an excellent slot corner early in his career with the skills to then transition outside. He has played for a very competitive 7 on 7 team and has seen good competition throughout his high school career and his 7 on 7 circuit. He not only is a good athlete, but he has good intangibles as well. He is a confident kid who does not back down from competition.
