2019 DE Jason Munoz Is Armed With a Trio of Power Five Offers

Five schools have presented scholarship offers to 2019 Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas defensive end, Jason Munoz.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas manufactures and delivers double-digit prospects on a yearly basis, with Jason Munoz being one of the headliners in their talent-rich 2019 class.

Munoz, a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman, is equipped with scholarship offers from MissouriMarylandKentuckyFlorida Atlantic and East Carolina.

"You know, right now I don't really have a top school," Munoz said. "I'm just trying to work as hard as I can and stay focused. One of the schools that stands out is Ohio State because of Nick and Joey Bosa.

"They both played youth football for PPO (Pembroke Pines Optimist) like I did, and came from STA as well. I'd like to keep that winning tradition going."

With all suitors currently on a level playing field, Munoz goes in-depth on the trio of Power Five schools that are already two feet in with verbal scholarship offers.

Kentucky: "I know they have a strong tradition of successful defensive linemen. It’s my understanding they also offer a lot of different academic programs. The defensive line coach (Derrick LeBlanc) is new, but he has a really good reputation after his time at North Texas."

Maryland: "The University of Maryland just changed their head coach (D.J. Durkin) and they had a pretty good year. I know the defensive coordinators there (Andy Buh and Jimmy Brumbaugh) are pretty new as well, but they’re some of the top in the country, so that’s exciting."

Missouri: "Mizzou is a great school, too. They have some excellent facilities for the players with state-of-the-art equipment and locker rooms. The student-athletes there have a really good graduation rate with decent GPAs.

"I know their athletic director has stressed academic excellence, which I think is important for any student-athlete."

Munoz has no visits scheduled at this time.
