Keontra Smith has a reputation for being one of the nation's premier safeties for the class of 2019, so it is no surprise that nearly a dozen colleges have already stepped forward with offers.
In fact, the Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna standout is already comfortable enough to label Auburn as the clear front-runner in his recruitment.
"I like the school because I know I would be a good fit in the defense," Smith said. "I haven't been there, but from pictures I've seen, the campus looks nice. I haven't communicated with them yet.
"I also want to be there with my bro, Shaun Shivers."
Shivers, one of Smith's high school teammates, is a dynamic all-purpose back who committed to coach Gus Malzahn and the Tigers back in October.
"(Shaun) told me that I would be ready to commit after my visit there," Smith said. "He also mentioned me to the secondary coach (Greg Brown), and he said he spoke good about me.
"Me and Shaun are from the same neighborhood. We grew up together and have a tight-knit relationship."
