Kason Martin, a 6-foot-3, 182-pound quarterback from Manvel (Texas) was happy to report that he had picked up his first offer on Thursday.
"North Texas," Martin reported.
"(I'm) fired up! They run the same offense as my school. Their program is on the rise with a phenomenal coaching staff and new facilities coming soon. Coach (Graham) Harrell, the offensive coordinator and QB coach, is the best in the business."
Martin was recently on campus at UNT in Denton, Texas and that is also his most recent unofficial visit.
"(The) coaching staff was a family and the players loved and respected them," Martin said. "Facilities were beautiful and only getting better."
Martin is also receiving interest from Louisiana Tech. He will catch the eye of recruiters as a number of top colleges will visit the school, as always, throughout the spring evaluation.
As a junior, Martin passed for 3,443 yards and 46 touchdowns to earn 23-5A District Offensive Newcomer of the Year honors.
"I'm very smart in and off the field," Martin answered when asked about his strengths as a prospect. "Straight A's and I know where to go with the ball. I'm courageous and a leader."
Martin was named the QB MVP at the Houston Next Level Athlete Showcase in January.
