Duke, Notre Dame and Virginia on list for East No. 5 DT Ja'mion Franklin

CLIFTON, Va. -- Defensive tackle Ja'mion Franklin is announcing July 1 and he spoke about the three schools recruiting him the hardest.

Evaluation: Ja'mion Franklin, the No. 5 defensive tackle in the East, is announcing his college choice July 1. He is set to visit Virginia this week and there is a reason he is being sought after by strong academic schools.

The 6-foot-1 1/2, 310-pound Franklin is powerful on the field and a strong student off it. During The Opening Regional at Centreville High, Franklin was one of the top defensive performers.

The Ridgely (Md.) North Caroline standout possesses good flexibility and he plays with a great pad level. He stays low and then fires off quickly. He is quick with his hands and he disengages well. His strength allows him to move an offensive lineman and get him off balance.

Franklin lined up at defensive tackle and was quick to get inside of the offensive lineman. Length is a litter bit of a concern, but his speed up the field and his willingness and ability to get to the edge and dip under the lineman was impressive. His lateral movement was solid.
