Four-Star QB Adrian Martinez De-Commits From Cal, Opens Up Recruitment

Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West quarterback Adrian Martinez has decided to open up his recruitment and de-committed from Cal earlier today.

Quarterback Adrian Martinez was the California Golden Bears first commitment in the 2018 class but the gifted signal caller has decided to open up his recruitment.

"Cal is still an option for me but I'm just not 100% certain that is the place for me at this time," Martinez said. "I don't have a timeframe for a decision right now, it could be in the next coming weeks or beginning of the summer. I'm evaluating everything right now and not certain about it yet."

Martinez recently visited Tennessee and raved about the trip, (story here- UT trip recap).

"I really enjoyed my time out there," Martinez added. "It was a great trip for me. I also visited Arizona State a few weeks ago and that was cool too. I just want to take a step back right now and re-evaluate everything.

"I committed so early to Cal, I never really knew what this process was all about. I'm not sure if I'll take any other trips right now. I could, but I'm just going see what happens from here, see what schools might come in and then go from there."

Martinez is a talented dual-threat quarterback who combines an effortless release, a live arm and the ability to stress a defense with his legs. He's very good buying time in the pocket and doesn't always look to run but does a nice job keeping his eyes down the field and making a throw. He shows a lot of poise as well and has a very nice upside to him.
