Watch Scout100 defensive end and new Ohio State commitment Brenton Cox work at a recent event

Ohio State edged Georgia for Scout100 defensive end prospect Brenton Cox on Tuesday and Scout takes a look at the new Buckeye pledge following his most recent camp effort with video and fresh analysis.

Evaluation Notes: The last time Scout saw Stockbridge (Ga.) defensive end Brenton Cox was at The Opening Atlanta exactly one month ago today and we couldn't have been much more impressed. He initially strikes you on the hoof, checking in at a shade under 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, but the focus quickly shifts to his game upon seeing him partake in one drill or one-on-one rep. Cox comes off the ball in a hurry and plays with excellent body lean in order to gain leverage on a blocker and he has increased his consistency at the point of attack thereafter. Going against some of the top offensive linemen in the region on this day (video above), he displayed quick and violent hands in order to avoid being extended upon and combined it with solid power en route to the quarterback. He can beat opponents with speed, quickness and some mature pass-rushing moves, all on that frame, making Cox simply one of the top edge defenders in the country's class of 2018.

Recruiting Notes: Cox picked Ohio State over in-state Georgia this week and announced the news on Twitter. Learn more of his pledge to the Buckeyes in the story below:
