2019 QB Nate Martens has an offer, Power 5 interest

St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet Jesuit class of 2019 quarterback Nate Martens talks about getting his first offer and the other Power 5 schools interested.

St. Louis DeSmet Jesuit quarterback Nate Martens has college level size (6-3, 220 pounds) and got off to a good start as a sophomore last fall, passing for 1,969 yards and 17 touchdowns.

That brought colleges wanting to know more about him and one school, Syracuse, who saw enough to offer.

"It was really exciting to get the first offer and kind of relax," Martens said, "but know that all the hard work I'm putting in is paying off a little bit, but know that I still have to do more to prepare."

Visiting Syracuse is something Martens hopes to do soon.

"I haven't been there, but it's up on the priority list, getting up there and meeting the coaches."

Martens said the other schools in contact include Michigan StateNorthwesternAlabama and Illinois.

"I went up to a Michigan State spring practice, Northwestern practice, other than that no, I haven't gone to any other scrimmages or anything like that."

After that sophomore season and a good showing at recent camps, Martens is a name to remember as we enter summer.
