First Big Ten offer "exciting" for 2018 OL Alexander Howie

Plymouth (Mich.) Salem offensive lineman Alexander Howie was the recent recipient of an Indiana offer. He discusses the Hoosiers and other schools who have been showing interest here.

Plymouth Salem's Alexander Howie was one of the final five on the offensive line at Saturday's Under Armour All-America Camp in Cincinnati. His strength allowed him to win many of his one on one reps and he showed why he has a good handful of offers, including a recent one from Indiana, which was his first Power 5 offer.

"It was pretty exciting," he said. "I've been trying to get my first power-five offer, so it was exciting to see that happen."

Howie has not had a chance to speak with Hoosiers head coach Tom Allen yet, but he has been in contact with area recruiter Mike Hart, who stopped into the school and extended the offer last week. Hart made his name as a running back Michigan, not too far away from Howie's hometown of Plymouth.

"I was actually a Michigan State fan," Howie said, "but I watched him tear it up a bit. I plan on going to Indiana for camp and a visit in early summer I think."

In addition to Indiana, Howie will camp at Duke and Michigan State, and will also visit Air Force and Colorado.

As a fan of the Spartans, that is one offer Howie hopes to add.

"The last time I visited was in February and they said they want me to come down to camp to further evaluate me, so hopefully that goes well."
