Recruiting Update with Four-Star DB D'Shawn Jamison

Scout recently caught up with Top 100 member D'Shawn Jamison, a versatile defender in the Jabrill Peppers mold, who is sorting through his recruiting options.

D'Shawn Jamison, a 5-foot-10, 173-pound defensive back from Houston (Texas) Lamar has been enjoying a great spring.

He has racked up an abundance of offers, punched a ticket to The Opening Finals, and helped his Fast 7v7 squad qualify for the National Championships.

"Spring is going great," Jamison confirmed. "What I am kind of working on is my technique and showing my cornerback skills and press coverage, because usually I play safety, so the one thing I really want to show this year is that I can also play corner and I am very versatile.

It has been a great experience going out there with other great talent and also see who is good competition and who can you go against (to test yourself)."

Jamison' s Top 10 included schools like Duke, Florida, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Penn State, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, and USC. He says, "TexasTCUPenn State, and Missouri" have been stepping up to show him extra love lately.

"Texas is telling me that I am very versatile (and) I can play any position over there," Jamison explained. "Missouri, they also say the same thing. Penn State, that they also want me at corner and safety, For TCU, they are mostly on me for corner and slot."

The four-star defender was recently on campus in Austin, Texas for the Longhorns spring game. He had a really enjoyable time on campus, an the UT staff did a great job of showing what he could be in its defensive schemes.

"That was really a great experience," Jamison said. "Going out there and seeing how college players react to a new coaching staff and working with new players. Also, the starting groups on both sides showed a lot.

"They want me to come there. They show a lot of love and they show that this is home. They show a lot over there. They had a film with my film and also with their defensive film and they show how they are going to work me out and show me what plays and all the stuff I could do while I am over there."

Jamison has a plan in place to attack his recruitment and ultimately cut his list down from 10 schools to one. It will start with some more visits.

"Once I go and visit all of the other schools over the summer I will see which ones are better," Jamison informed. "I have not put out my top five yet, but after I put out my top five it is going to be my top two, and by the time I get through all this I should find out where I will commit."

Billy Embody conducted the interview for this report.
