Freshman DT Denver Warren grabs first offers

West Aurora (Ill.) defensive tackle Denver Warren is only a freshman but has two FBS offers now and many other schools are beginning to take note.

Denver Warren played varsity football as a freshman and he has followed up that season with an outstanding run of camps which has included the EFT/Edgy Tim Showcase, the Elite Big Man Camp in Michigan, then the Under Armour All-America Camp in Chicago where he was one of the top performers.

That has brought about his first two scholarship offers as Iowa State offered him last week followed by Central Michigan.

"It was a crazy, unexpected moment of greatness," Warren said. "I was very happy. I didn't know what to do, I instantly called my family and coaches that truly helped me get where I am."

Warren has size (6-3, 290 pounds), strength and a competitive attitude which was evident in these camps and should carry him to more offers as the process goes on, but the Cyclones and Chippewas have gotten in on the ground floor.

"I've been to CMU," he said. "It was great. I liked the experience and the energy they had and it was only practice.

"I have not been to Iowa State but I plan to go and I believe I will enjoy myself. I talked to coach Golesh and coach showed lots of love over the phone. I can't wait. I know a few things about the program, not much yet, but I will find out more. I'm just blessed they are giving me a chance and decided to be my first offer."

Warren said the only other school who reached out was Illinois, who invited him to camp. No one else has contacted him yet because of his age, but he said he will "get my name as big as a mountain, I promise."

After seeing him perform the last few months, that seems like a promise which will be easily kept.
