OT James Collins attracting interest from ACC and Big Ten Programs

Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith offensive tackle James Collins is still flying somewhat under the recruiting radar, but that could change soon.

James Collins is starting to generate a significant amount of interest on the recruiting trail.

Multiple major programs have reached out to him.

"I have an offer from Virginia and Penn StateNorth CarolinaMarylandNC State and Duke are also recruiting me," said the 6-foot-5, 311-pound Collins.

His most recent visit was Penn State.

"I went for the Blue-White game and I loved it," Collins said. "While we were there, we had a chance to eat with the players and coaches, which was really cool.

"I also had a chance to speak to (recruiting coordinator) coach (D.J.) Barthel and he told me they were glad I visited. He also said they are looking at me really hard. If they offered, it would be great."

Collins' next visit will likely be NC State.

"I'm looking forward to getting down there and seeing the environment," Collins said. "Hopefully, it will be in the next few weeks. I'd like to meet all the coaches and see the campus, too."

"(Cornerbacks) coach (George) Barlow has been in contact with me since last football season and he always stays in touch. I also like how he's straight up and honest with me."

Collins hopes to make his commitment during football season.
