2018 Defensive Tackle John Graves Discusses His Texas Tech Offer and Upcoming Visit to Memphis

LANCASTER, Texas -- John Graves, a 2018 defensive tackle who moved from Missouri to Texas this offseason, talks about his offer from Texas Tech and an impending visit to Memphis.

John Graves moved this offseason from Blue Springs High School near Kansas City, Mo., to talent-laden Dallas-area program Lancaster High School, which regularly produces FBS prospects.

The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Graves recently picked up his first offer from Texas Tech and told Scout at Wednesday's spring practice at Lancaster that he will travel Thursday to Memphis for a visit.

Graves said defensive line coach Terrance Jamison recruits him for Texas Tech.

"I'm just happy that somebody gave me a chance and has seen the potential that I have and what I can do on the field," Graves said of the Texas Tech offer. "Just glad they gave me an opportunity to continue and go to college somewhere."

"They like that I'm versatile. I can move inside, I can move outside. I use my hands and I get off the ball."

Graves said playing inside or outside doesn't matter to him.

"Wherever you want me to eat at, I'm gonna eat at," he said with a smile.

Graves said outside linebackers coach Joe Lorig recruits him for Memphis.

"I just want to see the facilities and talk to some of the players and see how much they like it and stuff like that," Graves said. "Pretty much get a feel for the school and the coaching staff, see if I could fit in there."

Graves also said that he wants to head to Lubbock for a visit as soon as he gets the chance.

"I plan on taking a visit there whenever I can, maybe in June," he said.
