Recruiting Update with Three-Star WR Taye Barber

Scout catches up with Midlands Top 100 wide receiver Taye Barber to discuss the latest news in his recruitment.

Taye Barber, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound wide receiver from Cypress (Texas) Springs has picked up an abundance of offers. He has not named a concrete list of favorites, but schools are starting to step up based on level of interest.

"TCUIowa StateUtahKansasMissouri, and Oklahoma State," Barber said when asked which schools were recruiting him the hardest.

"I like TCU and Iowa State, but I just want to get out to all of the schools that I just named and really see how everything is. I just want to see how their culture is and how I would fit in their programs and how their program runs."

Barber mentioned TCU and ISU, but also names Utah as programs that are keeping the heat turned up on his recruitment, and he expanded his thoughts on those colleges.

TCU - "At TCU they are graduating six wide receivers, so there is a high chance that I could play there early. And they have the offense that I like to run."

Iowa State - "Iowa State -- they are recruiting me hard, and I could get the chance to play both sides and all over the field."

Utah - "They are graduating a lot of receivers too. They talking about playing early, and they throw the ball a lot."

Barber is looking to pick a school that fits him on multiple fronts.

"I am just looking for the right atmosphere," Barber said. "Somewhere that I can call home and help fulfill my dream of going to the NFL."

Barber won the UA iLLSPEED Competition at the UA Houston Camp and is one of the finalists set to compete in the UA iLLSPEED Finals, but more importantly he has been concentrating on his Cy-Springs team and his senior season.

Barber is looking forward to the damage he can do with his speed in an offense designed to get him and his teammate the football in space to showcase it.

"Things are really going good this spring," Barber admitted. "We are getting this new offense down and seeing how we are progressing in it and take our team to the playoffs."

Note: Barber added an offer from West Virginia on Tuesday.
