Offensive lineman or defensive tackle?
An argument can be made either way as to which is P.J. Mustipher's best position in college, but his performance as a defensive tackle at The Opening Regional at the New York Jets' practice facility shows he can be a big-time defensive player, and why Tennessee, Penn State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Michigan State are all pushing hard to land a commitment.
Mustipher, the No. 7 defensive tackle in the 2018 class, measured in at 6-foot-4 1/2, 290 pounds. Cut-ups of his performance are in the video player at the top of the page, and he was quick off the snap, and although he needs to continue to work to keep a low pad level, the strength in his legs and his burst allowed him to win reps. His arm length was key in keeping offensive linemen from getting their hands inside.
On a spin move, Mustipher demonstrated solid foot speed and an understanding of technique. He was patient yet purposeful in his movement. He competed hard.
After his performance, Mustipher received an invitation to The Opening Finals.
