Bossier City (La.) Parkway 2018 three-star safety Israel Mukuamu now holds 15 offers, seven of which have come from Power Five conference programs.
The latest arrived Tuesday night, when he got word that the Louisville Cardinals wanted to offer him. Quarterbacks coach Nick Petrino watched Bossier City Parkway's Monday practice, which Mukuamu said was a good one for him.
"Well I kinda knew (the offer) was coming, but it was also a surprise," Mukuamu said. "Coach Petrino came to our practice Monday and I had a great practice. Then he followed me on Twitter that night and told me to call him Tuesday.
"I had a feeling it was coming after he told me to call him."
At 6-foot-4, 190 pounds, Mukuamu possesses outstanding frame potential and will provide a truly large, rangy safety option at the next level. He also has experience playing cornerback.
His size stands out to Louisville, Mukuamu said.
"Coach Petrino said he loves the way I play free (safety)," he said, "and they are in need of free safeties with my size."
Mukumau said he's familiar with Louisville's recent winning ways and hopes to check out the campus in the near future.
"I know that Louisville is a great program that has been winning in the past few years," Mukuamu said. "I haven't visited there yet, but I plan to visit this summer for sure."
LSU, TCU, and Texas are three schools that have also shown recent interest. Oklahoma State and Ole Miss are two of the programs that have already offered Mukuamu that he could visit this summer, in addition to Louisville.
