East No. 6 DT Ja'mion Franklin 1-on-1s at The Opening, D.C.; Notre Dame, Duke, UVa involved

CLIFTON, Va. -- Defensive tackle Ja'mion Franklin in action at The Opening at Centreville High.

Ja'mion Franklin will commit July 1, and that means some fun at The Opening Finals after he received an invitation to the prestigious event Thursday.

The Ridgely (Md.) North Caroline defensive tackle previously said he was focused on Notre DameDuke and Virginia. He is trying to set up a few more visits, including one to Notre Dame in June, but not dates are set.

In earning his place at The Opening Finals, the 6-foot-2 1/2, 306-pound Franklin excelled at the regional event at Centreville High.

What stood out the most was Franklin's power, both in his lower and upper body. Once he got a shade of leverage, he pumped his legs and used his upper body strength to push back the offensive lineman. He was relentless in continuing to the quarterback.

Franklin demonstrated an ability to use multiple moves on one rep, and he changed directions and had a good burst. His hands were active, and when he got inside on the offensive lineman, his power in driving to the quarterback was evident.
