SEC Schools Come Calling for 2019 Florida Commit Jaquaze Sorrells

Jaquaze Sorrells, a 2019 Florida Gators commit, is just days removed from accumulating additional SEC offers from Alabama and Tennessee.

Despite being verbally attached to Florida, the lifelong favorite and first school to offer, Jaquaze Sorrells continues to find himself in the recruiting headlines with offers pouring in nearly every week.

Sorrells, a 2019 defensive tackle at Largo (Fla.) High, now boasts a prestigious offer from coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide after receiving word from his head coach on Wednesday.

"First off, it's Alabama we're talking about," Sorrells said. "The coach told me that they don't offer everyone, so I felt very fortunate to be one of those players.

"It's obviously a good program. They produce d-linemen, and they are 16 national championships in."

Mike Locksley, the co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach for the Crimson Tide, is the staff member who made everything official with Sorrells, who is equipped with additional offers from the likes of Michigan and Oregon.

"Coach Mike Locksley came down," Sorrells said. "When I called him, he said, 'I personally came down here to offer you a scholarship to the University of Alabama.'"

The Tennessee Volunteers also found no reason to wait and made their move roughly 24 hours after the Crimson Tide.

"Tennessee is a great program," Sorrells said. "I wasn't really thinking an offer when I saw (offensive coordinator) coach (Larry) Scott today, but when we looked each other in the eyes, I knew there was something else behind it.

"I plan on getting up there this summer for a visit, along with 'Bama."

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound sophomore committed on the spot when Florida served up an offer last June, and says not a thing has changed since.

"I'm still committed," Sorrells said. "I love my brothers and I am not going to be focusing on my recruiting until next spring if anything does change."

No dates are scheduled, but Sorrells says he plans to visit MichiganAlabamaTennesseeVirginia Tech and Oregon.
