South's 15th-Ranked TE Justin McGriff Will Relocate to Orlando for College

UCF has reeled in a commitment from Justin McGriff, a Tampa Bay native who checks in as the 15th-ranked tight end in the South.

Justin McGriff, the nation's 55th-ranked tight end, is now off the market and slated to extend his playing career at UCF after going public with his commitment on Saturday.

A three-star prospect at Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson, the 6-foot-6, 210-pound McGriff has captured additional scholarship offers from IllinoisFlorida AtlanticCentral Michigan and Toledo among others.

"I chose to commit to UCF because it's close to home," McGriff said. "I like their facility and up-and-coming facilities being added on, and the graduation rate was the cherry on top for me."

McGriff says Scott Frost's coaching staff was brimming with joy once learning of his life-changing decision for college.

"Well, I spoke to (tight ends) coach (Sean) Beckton first and he was excited," McGriff said. "He told me he was going to reach out to the rest of the coaching staff and get back to me.

"He then texted me moments later saying the entire staff was jumping up with joy, so that was awesome to know they feel that way about me."

McGriff is an intriguing prospect who has played out his prep career at receiver, but will likely shift inside and play with his hand in the dirt in college. He has to continue to pack on weight and strengthen up his frame, but should expand nicely throughout his collegiate career.

McGriff is extremely long, and utilizes that length by extending out to snag the ball away from his body. You will have to be patient with McGriff, but he does a nice job of making himself available and not rounding off his routes.

"What I bring to the table is the ability for the QB to throw the ball deep," McGriff said. "I'm sure-handed by catching in tight spaces, and that's another huge asset I possess.

"I run after the catch and I'm an aggressive blocker."

McGriff, who is also tagged as the sixth-ranked tight end in Florida, recorded 27 catches for 518 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a junior.
