Slidell (La.) Salmen 2018 three-star cornerback Eddie Smith eclipsed the 20-offer plateau this past week as he picked up offers from Texas Tech and Oklahoma State.

Those two Big 12 programs join an offer list that already included LouisvilleMississippi StateOregon StateTennesseeMemphis, and plenty of other schools.

Smith said he called Texas Tech defensive backs coach Karl Scott and found out about the offer from the Red Raiders.

"Once I (called Scott), he informed me that I had an offer," said the 6-foot, 172-pound Smith. "I know that with the coaching staff they have they can definitely prepare me to be the best I can and that I'll be competing daily there."

Smith said he already has a good relationship with another member of Texas Tech's staff: new running backs coach Jabbar Juluke, who previously coached at LSU.

"We've been talking way before I blew up with offers," Smith said of his relationship with Juluke.

Smith said his call to cornerbacks coach Tim Duffie yielded the Oklahoma State offer. He's still getting to know the Cowboys' staff.

"I'll build a relationship with coach Duffie after a while," Smith said. "It's a great program. My trainer's son plays for their team, so I watch them a lot."

Smith's trainer is former NFL player J.J. McCleskey, whose son Jalen McCleskey plays receiver for the Pokes. The younger McCleskey is 1 of 6 players from Louisiana on Oklahoma State's roster.

Are Texas Tech and Oklahoma State schools Smith hopes to visit soon?

"Definitely want to visit both," he said, "and I want to visit TennesseeLouisvilleTexas, and TCU as well."

The Longhorns and Horned Frogs have not yet offered Smith, but he's gotten regular interest in recent weeks from both staffs.

Smith played both sides of the ball this past fall for Salmen High, where he caught 11 passes for 275 yards and five touchdowns, while recording 33 tackles, one tackle for loss, two INT's, and one defensive TD.
