Wisconsin has had great success developing talent at the linebacker position. The most notable recent example was T.J. Watt, who was selected in the 1st Round by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and one recruit the Badgers are targeting at that same position in the 2018 class is David Alston from Woodbury, Minnesota.
"I would be a primarily rush stand up outside linebacker [at Wisconsin]," Alston said, "which I believe caters to my strengths as a player."
In addition to how he fits into their defense, Alston's visit to Madison allowed him to see other aspects of the program.
"It was really good they have a great welcoming atmosphere and a blue collar culture," he said.
On narrowing his list down, Alston said, "to an extent, but not enough to make any statements."
He did share how he views Wisconsin now that they have offered.
"They're up there," he said. "They bring a lot to the table as far as football and academics."
Alston said he would like to make a commitment before his senior season if possible.
