Safety Darnell Shields is in the process of shaking the "underrated" label as college coaches continue to issue offers to the Lakewood (OH) St. Edward defensive back.
Shields now holds over ten offers, and there could be more on the way as college football transitions from the evaluation phase to summer camps.
"I have 14 offers right now," Shields stated. "Of those schools, I would say Cincinnati and Colorado State are sticking out to me. They are both recruiting me hard, and I speak to both two or three times per week."
"Colorado State just called me out of the blue one day and offered me," he added. "They said they loved my film and what my head coach had to say about me. Going there would give me a chance to grow as a young man, and their scheme fits me."
"I want to get out there this summer and see Colorado State," he continued. "With Cincinnati, it's like a new world under Luke Fickell, and they are recruiting me hard. I will be there this summer as well, and I think a lot of the program."
Several other schools are showing interest in Shields, and his offer list could be expanding soon.
"I would like to commit before my season, but with more coaches showing interest I might just wait a while and see who else offers," he said. "I will be going to camp at Ohio State and Michigan State."
