The first Power Five offer is in for Cade McNamara.
The 2019 quarterback from Reno (Nev.) Damonte Ranch added Wisconsin to his offer list over the weekend and, given what he has shown in the first couple years of high school ball, it likely won't be the last one.
"Coach Jon Budmayr came out to my school and saw me throw recently, and I called him on the phone in the last week," McNamara told Scout.com. "He told me they analyzed everything they saw and they offered me. My style of play would fit in perfectly in their offense. It's a big one because Wisconsin would set me up for the next level. Their offensive scheme is a good one and I'm really interested in the school academically, too.
"I haven't been visited, but I plan to make a trip out there this summer."
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound prospect has been drawing interest from other programs this spring evaluation period.
"We're planning on making a few East Coast trips, depending on how it goes with North Carolina this week," McNamara said. "We're also hoping to get out to Alabama for camp and I also received invites from Florida State and Mississippi, so we're planning to go there, too. I'm definitely interested in getting down to USC and UCLA. Washington State and Notre Dame also came to my school last week, so I'm going to make an effort to get out there this summer if possible."
McNamara completed 58 percent of his pass attempts for 3,577 yards and 46 touchdowns as a sophomore last season, tacking on five more rushing scores. He was one of the underclassmen standouts at the Under Armour All-America Camp in Southern California earlier this year.
