Profile: Leddie Brown
Position: Running Back
High School: Smyrna (Del.) High
Height: 5-11 1/2
The Scouting Report: Brown first jumped onto Scout's radar when he was an eighth grader getting ready to enroll as Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian, which was the home of Wendell Smallwood and David Sills.
When Eastern Christian shut down, he transferred to Smyrna and quickly became overlooked in the recruiting process until Tennessee and Florida joined West Virginia in offering.
Smallwood, though, is a good starting point for breaking down Brown, who is the No. 17 running back in the 2018 class.
Brown is a physical runner between the tackles and he has quick feet, particularly in making cuts an accelerating in in the hole. His body control makes him tough to hit squarely.
Brown possesses the speed to get to the edge, but he is a patient runner who often looks for a cut-back. He is physical and he churns his legs, and he is difficult to tackle low. He is a downhill runner who does not waste his movements.
In addition, Brown is a skilled pass catcher. He can catch a swing pass, or motion out of the backfield and into the slot.
Overall Analysis: Brown fits what West Virginia does very well. He can grind out tough yards, is quick through the hole and he runs with power. He also is a veratile pass catcher, which enables him to be an asset in varying aspects of the offense. Physically, he will be ready to play the moment he steps on campus.
