Washington, D.C., CB D.J. Brown talks Arizona, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Boston College

Washington (D.C.) St. John's cornerback D.J. Brown talks about a flurry of spring offers from Power 5 schools.

At 6-foot-1, 183 pounds, D.J. Brown has the length college coaches crave in a cornerback.

And as schools stop by to watch the Washington (D.C.) St. John's standout work out during the spring evaluation period, more and more are extending offers.

Arizona was the latest to offer Brown, who already was offered by VanderbiltBoston College and a host of Ivy League schools this spring. In addition, Stanford is showing a lot of interest, and Brown will camp there in June.

"Schools like my length, speed, how I play the ball in the air," Brown said. "It's a mixture of everything, but a lot of it is length and potential. A lot of them come through the school and watch us work out."

Arizona already offered St. John's prospects Cam Goode and Keilan Robinson, so when linebackers coach Scott Boone stopped by to check on them a few weeks ago, Brown's ability popped out.

"He said he watched the film with the defensive coordinator (Marcel Yates) and the defensive backs coach (Jahmile Addae), and that is when they pulled the trigger," Brown said. "I'm probably going out there in the summer. I want to go see the campus."

The discussions with Arizona began recently, so Brown is in the infancy of building a relationship with the coaching staff.

"Ever since (Boone) came to my school, we've been talking," Brown said. "He said (Arizona) has a great environment, it's a great place and you get to play in the best passing conference (Pac-12) in America, so that is good for defensive backs."

The trip to Stanford is high on Brown's list.

"I've been talking to their coaches for two or three months, and they seem really interested," Brown said. "I like the west coast, Stanford is a great school and it can set me up in life after football. I really want to check it out, see the campus and then go to the camp and hopefully get an offer from them."

Also, a late June visit to Vanderbilt is in the works.

"I really don't know a lot, but I know it's a great school and it's in the SEC," Brown said. "I don't know a lot about Vandy, but I like it a lot."

Brown is yet to make many visits, but he took in a game at Boston College in the fall and returned for a junior day a few months back.

"I like B.C. It's real nice," Brown said. "It's got a real family atmosphere. Everybody is real close with each other. The players and the coaches get along well. I like it. Coach Rich Gunnell, he's the receivers coach, he's a great guy. He checks on me daily and asks how my family is doing. I like him a lot."
