NC State In The Mix For Davis

NC State remains in the mix for Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

Jordan Davis is taking his time with the recruiting process.

The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Davis' most recent visit was to Georgia for their spring game.

"It was my first time there and it was a good trip," said Davis, who claims no favorites. "I enjoyed everything, but my favorite parts were probably seeing the facilities and talking to (defensive line) coach (Tray) Scott. Coach Scott recruited me when he was at North Carolina, so I know him well, and he's really cool. He talked to me about school and told me about what Georgia has to offer.

"Before I left, I was able to sit down and talk to coach (Kirby) Smart and it was great speaking with him. We talked about academics and football. He told me to keep working hard at both. I'd like to go back and visit again, but I'm not sure when yet."

Along with the Bulldogs, Clemson, FloridaMarylandMiamiMississippiNorth Carolina and NC State have offered.

Of all the schools, he has visited North Carolina and NC State most, and gave a thought on each.

North Carolina: "The thing I like most about North Carolina is the academics," Davis said. "Academics are very important to me. I also like (wide receivers) coach (Gunter) Brewer. He's energetic and loves what he does. He's been telling me they want me there bad. But he also talks to me about things other than football, which is great."

NC State: "A lot of Mallard Creek players go there, so I feel at home when I visit. I like (tight ends) coach (Eddie) Faulkner, too, and he stays in contact. He's been telling me they have a lot of defensive linemen graduating next spring, and I'd have a good chance to come in and compete for early playing time."

Davis does not have a timeline for his commitment.

Update: Michigan offered Davis today.
