Cincinnati Elder defensive end Spencer Bono is just one of the 2019 linemen in the state of Ohio that currently hold Power Five offers.
Playing for one of the state's more storied programs, Bono racked up ten sacks last season as a sophomore starter. He has great size and quick feet coming off the edge.
"I think I'm a player that has the ability to never stop on the field, and my motor is always running," Bono stated. "I can use my hands well, but I think I need to get stronger in the weight room to be better against the run."
Bono holds three offers at this time, and is hoping to add more as time goes on. He impressed greatly two weeks ago at the Under Armour camp in Cincinnati.
"My offers are from Iowa, Toledo and Cincinnati," he explained. "The Iowa offer was the first one and that was very exciting to me. It was very surprising to me, and they are a great program. It blew me away."
"The Toledo offer also was a surprise, and they offered over the phone," he added. "The Cincinnati was great because I've always loved them growing up. I was offered by Coach (Luke) Fickell over the phone."
"With Coach Fickell at UC there's a very positive vibe, and they really want to recruit Ohio hard," he continued. "Other schools have been in contact with my coach, and I'd love to have an offer from Michigan State because they're my favorite school."
Scout will continue to track Bono over the next two years as we expect his offer list to expand greatly.
