Offensive tackle Nick Williams has a rare skill set, namely fluidity, and athleticism in a 6-foot-8, 265-pound frame.
Seeing a potentially high-level left tackle prospect, 14 schools have extended scholarship offers his way. That list includes a handful of top FCS programs, but also Kansas, Eastern Michigan, Wyoming, Ball State and UCF. Ten of those offers have come during a busy month of May. Because many of these offers are new, Williams has not had an opportunity to make many visits yet.
"I've visited Southern Illinois (Carbondale) and I plan on visiting as many schools as possible during the dead period between when school ends and when football camp starts," Williams said. "I plan on visiting many schools and also attending a few camps."
Williams is also fielding interest from a number of programs who have not offered yet, but are continuing to keep a dialogue and monitor his progress.
"Some of the schools interested that haven't offered me are Navy, Arkansas, Indiana and Illinois," Williams said. "To get offers from great schools like that I just have to keep working. Work ethic separates great players from ok players."
More offers could come Williams' way during the summer, and schools still have time to make a move as he is still taking his process slowly at the moment.
"I don't want to rush committing because I want to give everyone an equal opportunity and I also want to see if I will receive any more offers," he said. "Once I feel I have a pretty sizable list, I will sit down with my friends and family and make my top ten and take it from there.
"I expect to commit before the fall however."
