Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas is a football powerhouse with nearly 30 Division I prospects currently on their roster, with one being Nigel White, who landed offer No. 1 on Wednesday.
White, a speedy tailback hailing out of the 2019 class, now has the opportunity to extend his playing career with coach Kyle Whittingham and the Utah Utes.
"I feel truly blessed about receiving my first offer," White said. "I've been waiting for this big step in my recruitment and I'm anticipating for more offers to come.
"This first offer gives me more motivation to continue working hard and improve my game."
The Utes dip into talent-rich South Florida on a yearly basis, and even signed another St. Thomas Aquinas running back during the 2016 recruiting cycle.
"I like that Utah is a D1 school and produces players that go to the NFL, like Devontae Booker and Joe Williams," White said. "I also know that last year Utah picked up a St. Thomas graduate, Devontae Henry-Cole."
White has to pack on weight and strengthen up his frame, but there is no denying his ability once busting into space. He is a slippery athlete who does a nice job of stopping on a dime to elude defenders, but this is a willing blocker who does not shy away from physicality as well.
"I'm a speed back who can catch out of the backfield and make defenders miss in the open field," White said. "I also have good vision and ball protection."
White, who has yet to field interest from any additional schools, has no visits scheduled at this time.
