Quarterback A.J. Gucciardo is one of the top 2019 prospects in the state of Ohio, and his recruitment has already gotten off to a great start.
With one offer to his credit, Gucciardo is already ahead of the game. More offers could be on the way for the pro-style passer.
"Getting the first offer from Kent State was crazy, and I did not expect it," Gucciardo stated. "I've watched other guys get offered, but it was something special when it happens for you. I want to visit there soon."
One of the top moments in Gucciardo's recruitment was being able to attend the Florida spring game, and meeting with head coach Jim McElwain.
"Being at Florida was great and I loved it there," he added. "Before the spring game, I was blown away that Coach McElwain would take 20 minutes out of his day to meet with me in his office."
"He said they're interested in me, and he wants me to come to camp and throw for them, which I plan on doing," he continued.
Coming off an impressive sophomore season, Gucciardo is certainly one of the quarterbacks in the Midwest to follow over the next two seasons. Last year he threw for over 2,500 yards, with 29 touchdown passes.
"I thought I played well last year, but I made a few mistakes that can easily be cleaned up through being more experienced," he explained. "My strength is my ability to create opportunities for the playmakers."
"I like to put the ball in good spots, to let my receivers make plays," Gucciardo said. "I need to work on seeing coverages quicker, so I know what I'm facing earlier."
