Iowa a top option for newly offered TE Anthony Torres

Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn tight end Anthony Torres talks about the Iowa offer he received after camping with the Hawkeyes.

Mishawaka Penn tight end Anthony Torres earned an Iowa Hawkeyes offer after camp. Torres once held an Indiana offer, which was later pulled, so while this is not technically his first Big Ten offer, it was a big one for him.

"The Iowa staff was great to work with," Torres said. They really run camp how they run practices. I got a feel for how practices go from a tight end standpoint. It was awesome getting to work with the Iowa coaches. They're very hands on and pay attention to you."

Recruiting coordinator Kelvin Bell broke the news to Torres after his performance.

"Coach Bell had me call him today," Torres said. "He said that he and the rest of the Iowa staff were very impressed with how I performed. He said that I came out and did what they wanted to see out of me. He told me I came out and earned it."

The Hawkeyes lead for one of Torres' 7 on 7 teammates, cornerback DaShon Bussell, and are now in a great spot for Torres as well.

"They are definitely one of the top schools on my list," he said. "I've always had interest in Iowa, especially since they're one of the best tight end universities in the country."

Torres' next camp will be Ohio State on June 13th.
