A few days before announcing a commitment to Notre Dame, defensive tackle Ja'mion Franklin was in action at the Under Armour combine at Prince George Sports Complex earlier this month, and he performed with a target on his back as one of the top interior linemen at the event.
Franklin, who is 6-foot-2 1/2, 306 pounds, was not as good as he had been at other events, but he still put forth a solid showing and flashed some of the skills that made the Irish move on him. (Video clips are in the player at the top of the page.)
The Ridgely (Md.) North Caroline standout used a rip move and his power enabled him to get under and past the offensive lineman on several reps. Even when he tried to rip and use speed to the outside, he had a counter if it did not work and his foot quickness on a spin was technically sound.
On one rep, Franklin demonstrated his quickness and speed by feigning to the offensive lineman's left and then moving sharply to his right and getting up the field.
I have been a big Franklin fan since seeing him at a private workout in April 2016, and remain a huge fan.
