Nate Thompson has narrowed his focus to five schools.
The Southern Lee standout gave a quick thought on each.
Duke: "Duke shows the most interest," said the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Thompson. "I also have a good connection with the players and coaches."
NC State: "It's a hometown favorite and they have a great fan base. I also love (assistant) coach (Henry) Trevathan and (cornerbacks) coach (George) Barlow."
South Carolina: "They play in the SEC and it's one of the best conferences. The dorms are also really nice."
Syracuse: "It's my newest offer, so I'm learning more about them. I've been learning more about the school over the past few weeks and also getting to know the coaching staff."
Virginia Tech: "I just love visiting Blacksburg. The atmosphere is great and very energetic."
What is next?
"I haven't planned any visits yet, but I want to try to see all five schools this summer," Thompson said. "I'll either make my commitment sometime before or during the season."
Thompson finished his junior season with 84 tackles, including two for loss, seven pass breakups and four interceptions.
Southern Lee opens their season Aug. 18 on the road against Gray's Creek at 7:30 p.m.
